hello,
rather than start a new thread with pretty much identical topic i have
decided to continue this one even though it is several months old. i hope
this is ok. Now, as said, a 12v power supply was hooked up and then attempts
to boot afterwards were unsuccessful. only one led lights up and no video.
Gerards mention of U35 lead me to check that out and sure enough there was
a small bubble on the top. this was about a month ago and was not til last
weekend i found the time to remove U35. as notice to any future readers
there is a good sized ground pad underneath the chip so the chip requires a
good bit of heat to get that lose. but it did come off. i did not have time
to put the new chip on till last night but it is now on the board and it was
all cleaned up. then the test. both leds light up but there is no video to
screen nor is anything from a serial console. i did a bit of searching and
read there might be corrupted firmware. i have not done anything about that.
i thought i should send a message to the group to see if anyone is aware of
what to try after finding the U35 replacement did not fix it. the board was
a christmas gift to my son and i gave him 90 dollars for it after whatever
happened disabled the board. so i am not sure how long a power supply was
left attached nor how much damage beyond the U35 chip can be done. Hopefully
someone will have some ideas or suggestions. Thanks.
