Nb,
I doubt that is the case that would add unnecessary expense to a device. Most likely it is just a standard PCB the size of an 2.5" HD with the flash soldered directly to it...

No Bill, it uses an ordinary data connector.
My hope is that inside the disk, lies a mSATA disk
