He probably needs to reformat the USB drive as a FAT32 device (even if it
was a FAT32 device before, files left on the drive can cause problems, so
reformatting cleans it off).  I've had best results reformatting the USB
drive on Windows 7 or 8, then using UNetbootin to write the ISO to the drive
