[MinnowBoard] MinnowBoard Max won't boot.

Ok, thanks for the reply.

I haven't seen anything on my screen at all.  Am I correct in assuming that I should, at least, see the shell, without any sd card or usb stick?

I suppose it could be the HDMI monitor issue, after not seeing anything with the MinnowBoard, I tested with the same monitor and cable using  a BeagleBoard Black and a RaspBerry PI V2, they both worked.
