[MinnowBoard] No EUFI shell - No Display - D2 LED never Turns on

Hello All,

I just got my hands on a minnowboard MAX with intentions of using it for a
remote UAV/Camera controller.
I'm a Mechanical(first problem) Engineering graduate student at UMass Lowell


I have so far been unsuccessful at viewing the EUFI shell through serial or
HDMI

My main concern is that the D2 LED has never turned on, ever. I havn't heard
of that symptom in any prior posts.

I have tried stating up with and with out a Ubuntu 14.04 x64 SD card

*Do I have a bad Board?
Is there a step I missed that's preventing the board from actually starting
up?*

Host:
Windows 7

video output hardware:
micro HDMI adapter - amazon hdmi cable - lenovo monitor

Serial cable:
GearMo® USB to 3.3v TTL Header - 

power supply:
 5v 2.5A
