BTW - here's how you can install a 3.14 kernel on LTS.. I just did it to my
MM and it had no issues

http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.14.13-utopic/linux-image-3.14.13-031413-generic_3.14.13-031413.201407171953_amd64.deb

sudo dpkg -i linux-headers-3.14.13-*.deb linux-image-3.14.13-*.deb

sudo reboot
