[MinnowBoard] Where to install Linux (or other OS) on a MinnowBoard Max

A SATA RAM disk would cost much more than an SSD. There are a couple older solutions that are SATA-compliant but demand was quite low due to the costs. You would still need a storage fallback to repopulate the RAM in the case of power loss as well.

Really at this point SSD prices are quite low, especially for low-capacity. If you want to go lower-cost in mass-production, you can use eMMC, which BYT-I fully supports. And fast USB 3.0 flash media is readily available in mass-production build types too… we’re expecting controller-driven USB flash drives to proliferate next year.
