I don't know if the serial port will work on that kernel. We support 3.14+
and recommend 3.16. The board should boot and provide basic functionality
on older kernels - one of the advantages of x86 - but you will still need
the newer device drivers to do much else with the board.
That said, I would expect the debug console to work as it is a basic UART
supported by the 8250 driver. Check to make sure you have the serial
console specified in your kernel command line:
console=ttyS0,115200
And that you have your terminal emulator configured accordingly.
