>From my understanding there's only a single lane PCIe on the expansion connector, so while 2 port single chip nic parts are available, once you start increasing the number of ports, keeping the mPCIe port etc, then you're getting into needing a PCIe switch chip on there as well, all of which will add to the complexity and cost.
Also keep in mind that with a single lane PCIe Gen 2.0 you're likely to struggle with just two gigabit ports. Typical dual port gigabit Gen 1.0 add-in cards have tended to be 4 lane
