we aren't abandoning the original MinnowBoard. The big key here is we
wanted to take advantage of the things that were learned about the
original Minnow, including the complaints, with a design that addressed
them as quickly as possible. which is why we put a lot of resources into
getting the MinnowMax completed as quickly as possible.

we've already completed the mPCIe+mSATA lure, as well as 21 other lures.
these lures are based on the original designs released under creative
commons for arduino shields. we had a choice on our resources, either
spend them on getting some of the lures out for the original Minnow, or
get the MinnowMax completed and then work on lures for both of the
designs. as i stated earlier, we really want to address many of the
original issues with the Minnow as quickly as possible, so the Lures
became secondary.

please note, while Intel is strong partner in the project with technical
support and development resources, the entire design of both the
original Minnow and MinnowMax are done by Circuitco, the same developers
and manufacturers of the BeagleBoard.org project. MinnowBoard is not an
official Intel project, and MinnowBoard.org is a non-profit foundation
with board members.
as a side note, when we released the first BeagleBone (aka White), there
were no capes released at the same time. it too about 6 months before
the first commercially available capes began showing up. we certainly
understand now that having accessory boards available is extremely
important to the product release. that is why we have already designed
these lures to be released on the very same day the MinnowMax will be
available for purchase.
in addition, i'll make you a one time offer: if you feel your original
minnow is being abandoned, i'll be happy to exchange it for you to a
MinnowMax with the mPCIe+mSATA lure when we go to production...
thanks
