So I got this from another list and worked with the list owner to try and
figure out why mailman was bouncing it..   In this case, the admin
mentioned the following.  It seemed to have something to do with the IPv6
settings.  This might be helpful for the list admins, and if you forward
any message that you got.

Then the actual log message might be helpful for your, see below my
sig. As far as I could see in our log files, the gmail inbound servers
are not all in IPv6. Those that are not will accept messages even if
the IPv6 PTR record is not correct.
